The German subsidiary of Russia's state-owned oil giant Rosneft said over the weekend that its systems had been hacked,
according to BSI.
The German subsidiary of Rosneft reported a cyber attack late Saturday. BSI has provided support for analysis and repair systems.
Security authorities suspect the hacker group Anonymous was behind the attack. The attack did not affect Rosneft's ongoing
operations. However the system was affected and various processes were interrupted, including the possibility of terminating
the contract.
After Russia invaded Ukraine in late February, Anonymous said it was waging a "cyber war" against Russia. The hacking group
claims they hacked the websites of gas giant Gazprom, state-owned news agency RT, and many government agencies in
Russia and Belarus, including the Kremlin.
Early last month, operations at oil terminals at some of the largest ports in northwestern Europe, including Hamburg, Germany,
were disrupted by a massive cyber attack ahead of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Antwerp, Belgium, Europe's second-largest port,
and Hamburg, Germany's main port, were the targets of the cyberattack.
A cyber attack on a German oil storage and logistics company has disrupted the country's fuel supply chain just days after the
disruption of oil terminal operations at major ports in northwestern Europe. Shell Oil was forced to divert supplies to other
warehouses.
